MACH Alliance Launches DEIB Score to Drive Equity Across the Tech Industry

NEW YORK, NY, Sept. 17, 2024 – The MACH Alliance, the group of independent tech companies dedicated to advocating for open, best-of-breed technology ecosystems, is proud to launch its DEIB Scoring Tool today. The DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging) score’s goal is to break down barriers to success in tech companies’ DEI programs by providing an easy-to-use tool, scoring a company’s effort towards DEI activities in a neutral and actionable way, plus actively sharing best practices, successful strategies, and a variety of resources, increasing the impact of efforts towards equity for everyone. The tool will be free to use for members of the MACH Alliance, while comparable tools in the market are known to charge quite substantial fees.

“Launching a simple yet powerful tool to advance efforts around DEIB has been our overall goal in developing the DEIB score. I am convinced that the tool will provide clear guidance on the next step for any organization on their journey towards more equity. Offering it for free for MACH Alliance member companies is our contribution to pushing for progress broadly,” said Rabea Tamm, Senior Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging at commercetools.

Once a company has entered their information in the DEIB score, they will receive a maturity assessment and a DEIB Playbook. “When looking at the existing DEIB tools, we were underwhelmed. The expensive ones didn't deliver enough value, and the free tools were weak. We didn't want to wait for change – we rolled up our sleeves and built our own. Because a world without accessible, actionable DEIB insights? That simply doesn't compute,” added Jasmin Guthmann, Executive Board Member of the MACH Alliance and Sponsor of Women in MACH, on how the idea came together.

Holly Hall, Managing Director of the MACH Alliance, stated, “I am incredibly excited about making the DEIB Score available to our members, for free. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are at the heart of the MACH Alliance’s mission. We all want to live in a world that provides equal opportunity to all, and the DEIB Score will help companies get there.”
